This page explains the cookies this website uses. The short version: reading this site sets no cookies at all.
What cookies are
Cookies are small text files a website asks your browser to store. They are commonly used to remember preferences, keep you signed in, or track behaviour across sites. We use them only for the first two purposes, and only when you choose.
Cookies this site uses
If you leave a comment
When you leave a comment you may tick a box to save your name, email address and website in cookies, so you do not have to re-enter them next time. This is entirely optional — the box is unticked by default. These cookies last for one year. If you do not tick it, no cookie is set.
If you have an account and sign in
Signing in sets cookies that keep you logged in and remember your screen display choices. Login cookies last two days, and screen options last a year. Choosing “Remember Me” extends the login to two weeks. Signing out removes the login cookies. These apply only to people with an account — not to ordinary visitors.
What this site does NOT use
- No analytics or measurement cookies — there is no Google Analytics, Tag Manager or equivalent on this site.
- No advertising, retargeting or profiling cookies.
- No social media tracking pixels. Links to social platforms are ordinary links; they load nothing and set nothing unless you click them.
Because we set no cookies for ordinary browsing, this site does not display a cookie consent banner. If that ever changes — for example if analytics or embedded video are added — we will introduce a consent banner and update this page first.
Embedded content from other websites
Articles on this site may include embedded content such as videos or images from other sites. Embedded content behaves exactly as if you had visited that other website, which may collect data about you, use cookies, and monitor your interaction with it. We have no control over what those sites do.
Managing cookies
You can delete or block cookies in your browser settings at any time. Because this site does not rely on cookies for ordinary reading, blocking them will not stop you using it.
